The Possehl Group, which operates worldwide under the management holding company L. Possehl & Co. mbH, is a diversified group with currently ten economically independent, decentralised business divisions. The Possehl Group comprises L. Possehl & Co. mbH and more than 200 subsidiaries in over 30 countries. Possehl currently employs more than 13,000 people worldwide.

The company was founded by Ludwig Possehl in Lübeck in 1847 as a place where iron goods were traded. Since 1919 the non-profit Possehl Foundation has been the sole shareholder. This corporate structure enables the Possehl Group to operate independently and forms the basis for long-term business decisions.
